In the comments, ACIP and SHRM express some concerns and suggestions to USCIS on the proposed revisions to Form I-9 and the instructions to the form. Some of the comments relate to the overall length of the form; addressing the usage of electronic Form I-94; consistency between I-9 Central and M-274; and creating an electronic version of Form I-9. ACIP and SHRM also provided specific comments on various sections of the form, such as the usage of employees’ email and telephone number; explanation on what constitutes a USCIS number; definition of 3 business days for employers with non-traditional operating hours; and several suggestions on revisions to the form language.
